Sapiens Health foundation celebrated the World Kidney Day 2025 at Chennai on Tuesday, 11th March. The foundation has entered its 27th year of existence and has been active in preventing kidney disease and educating the public about the same. Prof. Krishnakumar, Institute Professor at IIT Madras spoke on the relevance of Artificial Intelligence and Kidney Disease. Mr. Ramkumar Shankar, Managing Director of Chemplast Sanmar Limited and President of MCCI, presided over the function and praised the efforts of the Foundation. Actor S. Siddharth released the salt reduction guide and complimented Dr Rajan Ravichandran for serving the needy. Dr. Rajan Ravichandran elaborated on prevention of kidney disease and the importance of recognizing high blood pressure and protein leak in urine as markers of kidney disease. He also emphasized the need to reduce the salt intake to the WHO’s guideline of 5 grams per day to prevent heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure. A video of the foundations milestones was shown during the function. Maadhu Balaji made the function lively with his humorous talk. Mr. Sundar Ramachandran, Trustee, Sapiens Health foundation conducted the program and shared the notable contribution of Dr. Rajan Ravichandran in taking forward the foundation’s objectives. He highlighted the pioneering work of Dr Rajan Ravichandran in the campaign for reduction of salt in diet since 2010 much before this became a major health awareness issue.
