Myths and Facts about Kidney Disease

Myth: Kidney disease is Hereditary.
Fact: Very few kidney diseases are hereditary for example polycystic kidney disease.

Obesity and Kidney Disease

A Ballooning issue, obesity is derived from Latin, meaning ‘Having Eaten until Fat’. And the World Health Organisation (WHO) defines obesity as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation which may impair health. 

Tips to control Blood Pressure

Who has high Blood Pressure?
Any adult who is over 20 years of age, and who has a Systolic Blood Pressure of equal or more than 140 mm of mercury and a diastolic BP of equal or more than 90 mm of mercury on two separate occasions when recorded in a relaxed sitting position is considered hypertensive.

Tips to control Diabetes

Who is a Diabetic?
Anybody who has the following values present on 2 occasion is a diabetic.
Fasting Blood Sugar >126 mg% or Random Blood Sugar >200 mg% or Blood Sugar 2hrs after 75 grams of glucose (PP) > 200mg%

Urinary Tract Infection

Urinary tract infection is a common problem. There is a 50% chance of a woman getting it in her life-time. It can be very disturbing and occasionally life-threatening. 

Water Consumption

How much water to consume?
It is not necessary to measure and consume water. The water in-take can be highly variable depending on the sensation of thirst and cultural practices.

The US News and World Reports have ranked 41 healthy diets. The rankings have been arrived at by a panel of nutritionists, dietary advisors and doctors who took into consideration the ease of following the diet, promotion of cardiovascular and brain health, prevention of cancers, and weight control to rank the various diet plans.
